I truly felt moved by the news today of Tom’s withdrawal. He is a real hero in this movement and I hope others will take a few minutes to write him as I have to express that sentiment.

Honorable Thomas G. Tancredo (R-6th, CO)
House of Representatives
U.S. Congress
Washington, DC

Dear Tom,

I got your email message today with regret, but I know that what you accomplished in your effort was certainly not in vain.

When this seemingly endless campaign commenced months ago, you alone were the voice of reason for real immigration reform.

Now, since the defeat of the obscene Senate amnesty bill in June of this year, the voices of the new converts can be heard loud and clear. In fact, Mitt Romney and Huckabee seem to be competing for who is the most for closing open borders and stopping funds for sanctuary cities.

Sadly, as a Democrat, I am appalled at the attitudes of my own party’s Presidential hopefuls on immigration reform. My party, once the bastion of the little guy and gal, has become nothing more than a clone to the big money elites who now seem to own our government.

I am sure that your campaign cost not only money, but drew heavily on your physical resources and put great pressure as well on your family. You conducted yourself with principle and dignity, stating your long held views clearly and with principled intent. No one could ask for or expect more.

You should be very proud of what you have done.

Sally and I send our personal thanks for the immigration stance you took early and helped so much to bring to national discourse. If we don’t fix this mess now, it may be beyond fixing.

I know you will continue to use your influence in Congress to assure that whoever is elected President, Democrat or Republican, that this issue will not be allowed to die or be distorted with the kind of open border mentality personified by the big money elitists or the ethnic and ideological lobbies whose loyalties are not to America but to greed and creeds.

With best wishes for Christmas and for another great year of accomplishment.

Faithfully yours,

Donald A. Collins
