Looming Obamnesty Just A Symptom Of America’s Democidal Democracy

By James Kirkpatrick

The Obama Amnesty, threatened as early as this week, is bigger than the perfidy of one President — it’s a systemic failing of our form of government. Our ruling elite clearly has a positive interest in making life worse for the majority of people in the country and in actively degrading the concept of citizenship. Our democidal democracy is actually unmaking the American people. Obama’s Executive Amnesty is merely the final stroke that will sever the connection between the historic American nation and the government in Washington, D.C.

The only hope: the GOP/ GAP will become the explicit defender of the American majority’s interests via a National Conservative program of immigration restriction, pro-worker policies, and opposition to corporate exploitation. But this would mean overcoming the ideological bankruptcy of the Beltway Right — and the short-term pecuniary interests of the Republican Congressional leadership.

Ominously, there are troubling signs that the new Republican majority, having been elected largely on the strength of the public’s opposition to Amnesty, is already wobbling. Thus Betsy Woodruff at Slate giggles that “the GOP is about as divided over immigration policy as any political party is over any single issue.” [The Coming Immigration War, November 14, 2014]

Significantly, there does not seem to be a consensus among Republican Party about what actually to do if and when Obama pulls the trigger on unilaterally legalizing almost five million law-breaking aliens.

GOP congressional leaders are discussing a series of short-term funding measures that would “create a forum to push back against the president, and, possibly, gain concessions. Republicans also are planning to file a lawsuit against the president over his use of executive authority, according to the lawmakers and aides.” [Congressional Republicans consider using short-term funding bill to pressure Obama, Robert Costa, Washington Post, November 14, 2014] The power of the purse could be used to simply defund Obama’s Amnesty, as Senator Jeff Sessions (R-America) has urged. [Jeff Sessions: Defund Obama’s Exec Amnesty in Next Funding Bill, Tony Lee, Breitbart, November 6, 2014]

But, needless to say, this approach concedes the initiative entirely to President Obama, who has already acknowledged that what he is proposing to do is unconstitutional.

Of course, the ultimate solution to such a blatant and criminal abuse of executive power is impeachment, which is indeed gaining acceptance in the mainstream but remains unmentionable on Capitol Hill.

However, the real question is whether the Congressional GOP leadership wants to stop Obama’s Amnesty at all. It seems more likely that they are interested in allowing Obama to go through with Amnesty on the theory that this will “get it behind” them, while they reap the political rewards of public outrage in 2016.

Indeed, even the “short term funding” gambit seems like boob bait. Republicans are desperately afraid of being held responsible for another government shutdown if Obama calls their bluff. As Slate’s Betsy Woodruff wrote:

Nobody wants a shutdown. Boehner doesn’t want it, incoming Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell doesn’t want it, House Republicans don’t want it, even hawkish immigration activists say they don’t want it.
And House Appropriations Chairman Harold Rogers of Kentucky has already given the game away and informed the President (along with everyone else) that the GOP is ready to roll over and play dead:
“Well, we’re not going to shut down the government,” Rogers said Thursday. “So there’s no use talking about using that as a threat. We’ve been down that road before.”

[As Obama Weighs Executive Action on Immigration, Is Government Shutdown Possible (Video), by Matt Fuller, Roll Call, November 13, 2014]

Of course, even pro-Amnesty Republicans know that their base is unwilling to accept open collaboration with Barack Obama. The likes of Senator John McCain are supposedly “outraged” by President Obama’s plan to unilaterally impose Amnesty.

At the same time, however, as McCain put it, “Immigration reform has to happen. There are 11 million here and we need to deal with it.” [Post-election: Sen. McCain discusses immigration reform, drought, by Cary Blake, Western Farm Press, November 11, 2014]

And the Beltway Right’s corporate backers, their bought shills, and the political consultants all still want Amnesty.

The result: the American Right is being set up for a fall. If Obama imposes his Amnesty on the American people, the Republican leadership will make some noise — but they are already shying away from even the bare minimum that would be necessary to actually stop Obama’s actions, namely, stopping funding and shutting down the government.

Instead, they will limit themselves to complaints, and position themselves for 2016 by telling the base about how loudly they protested the President’s actions.

In this, we can look to the ridiculous Rand Paul as an example — he spent the last few years shilling for Amnesty and now has the chutzpah to fundraise off his supposed restrictionist credentials.

Of course, as even Rush Limbaugh noted, “Obamacare and this [Amnesty] are ballgame, in terms of the transformation of the country.” [Amnesty is Irreversible, RushLimbaugh.com, November 13, 2014] Having played it safe and lost, Obama has no reason not to permanently realign the demographic basis of the country and secure his legacy in the last few years. Besides, the person who will be left to face the short-term political consequences is presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, whose relationship with Obama is rocky, to say the least.

As for Republicans, they have as yet given no evidence they can plan beyond the next news cycle, let alone for the next decade.

What’s really at issue here is the failure of the American form of government. The Founding Fathers took for granted that the historic American nation would retain control over the country it founded. They couldn’t have anticipated an occupation government that would bring in helot labor as a demographic and electoral weapon against existing citizens. Nor could they have predicted a government that would actually devalue its own national identity for the same purpose. What has occurred is the seizure of power by what the late Sam Francis identified as a governing elite that has no stake in the perpetuation of its own society and that actually profits from social dysfunction.

An illegal and unconstitutional mass Amnesty represents the critical moment when the American government transfers its primary concern away from the historic American nation and towards the more compliant people who will replace them. Both the open contempt of the Main Stream Media towards American citizens, and the taunting by illegals who know the ostensible American President is on their side, indicate the recognition of this historic shift. [Report: Illegals Taunt Immigration Agents As They Await Amnesty From Obama, by Paul Bedard, FoxNews, November 14, 2014]

We actually have a system in place where the elite favors unmaking their own country.

The only immediate solution: the kind of grassroots rebellion that (as should be celebrated with patriotic pride) has repeatedly stopped Amnesty before — but, this time, one that goes beyond saving Conservatism Inc. from the consequences of its own stupidity.

It has to be framed as a kind of nationalist, patriotic movement in its own right that connects the immigration issue to income inequality, the parasitic political class, and a government that seems openly hostile towards the American majority.

While Jeff Sessions has been the foremost spokesman of this kind of National Conservative message in the Senate, none of the 2016 Republican has yet established the fight against Amnesty as central to their effort.

But even if the historic American nation gets the champion it needs, he can only hold the line. The rot is now so deep that it is systemic. The American government is in need of drastic change if it is to be regarded as legitimate. After all, few are even pretending that mass immigration is good for the country anymore. Illegal immigration is not a cause of American decline, but a symptom.

And the historic American nation will need something more substantial than a Republican majority if it is to secure its survival in the country it created.
