Memo From Middle America | California’s Jerry Brown Visits Mexico — To Speed Up Reconquista

In the midst of an illegal alien invasion facilitated by our own federal government, the governor of America’s most populous state just took a trip to Mexico, apparently to help things along.

The governor: none other than the famous Edmund Gerald “Jerry” Brown, Jr., known by some as “Governor Moonbeam”, whom Dick Morris and others think might run for the Democratic presidential nomination against Hillary Clinton. See VDARE.COM’s file on Jerry Brown here.

The trip was organized by the California Chamber of Commerce and included

“…a delegation of more than 100 state government, business, economic development, investment and policy leaders. Delegates paid $5,000 each for the four-day trip, which is subsidizing the cost of Brown’s travel.”

Brown was also accompanied by wife Anne Gust Brown and, significantly, by five (!) Mexican consuls general (those posted in Sacramento, Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco and San Jose).

Governor Brown’s motives for going, in his own words:

“We want to increase trade. We want to deal with some issues on the refugees that are coming across the border. And I also want to collaborate with Mexico in pushing an intelligent climate change agenda.”
The rapid Mexicanization of California was shamelessly cited by Governor Brown as another reason:
“The relationship with Mexico, the role of those of Mexican heritage in California, is fundamental to our schools, to our well-being, and I think this trip will be productive.”
That’s akin to what former Governor Gray Davis said about California and Mexico forming “one magnificent region”.

Brown spent three days in Mexico City in a mind-boggling succession of meetings with Mexican movers and shakers. He met with Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto, who, according to the presidential website, “emphasized the economic, political and social links that unite Mexico and California”. Brown and Pena Nieto discussed the fact “that in California resides the largest community of Mexicans abroad.” So both leaders agreed to “increase the collaboration with the goal of guaranteeing the well-being of that population, with the support of the 10 consulates which Mexican has in that state of the American Union. “

Mexico’s paper of record, el Universal, said that the Mexican Presidente “recognized the leadership of Governor Brown….and the decisive actions in favor of diversity and inclusion that benefit the Mexican communities that live in his state.” [EPN se reúne con gobernador de California, By Alberto Morales, el Universal, July 29, 2014] [My translations throughout]

Bottom line: Brown and Pena Nieto talked about how important it is to keep the Mexicans in California happy.

How about non-Mexicans in California?

Brown also visited the Mexican Senate where he said Mexico should be careful about the oil companies as it opens up its petroleum sector. [Gobernador de California visita Senado de la República,by Juan Pablo Reyes, Excelsior, July 29, 2014]

At the offices of Mexico’s Aeromexico airline, Brown discussed a joint campaign to promote California tourism.

Brown also met with leftist leader Cuauhtemoc Cardenas, poet Homero Aridjis, and Carlos Slim, Mexico’s wealthiest man.

And (what a coincidence!) Mexican-born Los Angeles Archbishop Jose Gomez, a big Amnesty booster, was in Mexico City at the same time. He held a joint press conference with Governor Moonbeam. Also in attendance: the archbishops of Mexico, Guatemala and El Salvador. Governor Brown said the U.S. should do more to improve the well-being of our neighbors (with taxpayer dollars, one supposes).

The LA archbishop declared that “we cannot continue waiting for the migratory reform [amnesty], we have to act now.” [Brown: Crisis migratoria, llamada de atención para Washington,By Georgina Olson, Excelsior, July 29, 2014]

Don’t worry Jose, Obama is already doing that.

During the session with the archbishops, Governor Brown was very generous with the taxpayers’ money, declaring that

“I would do everything I could to make sure California will do its part to shelter any young children that are in need of protection.”
and
“I would support additional shelters to deal with this particular immediate challenge we have,”
Also in Mexico City, Governor Moonbeam held forth on one of his favorite topics, climate change, and related it to current and future invasions:
“We can see how some are fearful of children walking across the border. What will they think when millions of people are driven north from the parched landscapes of a world degraded by intensifying climate change?”

In Mexico City, Governor Brown signed several bilateral agreements between the state of California and Mexico.

Wait a minute, is that constitutional? After all, California is not an independent country, it’s a state of the United States. According to that dusty old document known as the U.S. Constitution:

“The Congress shall have Power….. To regulate Commerce with foreign Nations…..” (Article I, Section 8)
and
“No State shall enter into any Treaty, Alliance, or Confederation…..

No State shall, without the Consent of Congress…enter into any Agreement or Compact with another State, or with a foreign Power, or engage in War, unless actually invaded, or in such imminent Danger as will not admit of delay.” (Article I, Section 10)

Nevertheless, Governor Moonbeam signed these agreements with the Mexican government:
  1. HIGHER EDUCATION (See here, here, and here). One of its goals: to get 10,000 Mexicans students studying in the University of California, to set up joint research, student and teacher exchanges, and “teacher training courses for English-language teachers” (for California or Mexico, which needs English teachers more?). To waste no time, a California-Mexico Higher Education Working Group started work on July 28th in Mexico City.
  2. LABOR — Brown signed an agreement with the Mexican Secretary of Labor having to do with Mexicans who work with H-2 visas in California.
  3. MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING ON TRADE AND INVESTMENT
  4. CLIMATE PACT — California and Mexico reducing greenhouse gases together.
If the U.S. puts a Cub Scout with a slingshot on the border, Mexico goes hysterical — despite the fact that the Mexican side of the border is already militarized. And Governor Moonbeam took advantage of a joint press conference with Mexican Foreign Minister José Antonio Meade to take a few potshots at his fellow governor, Rick Perry of Texas.

Meade said: "We agreed that when unaccompanied minors are involved, the humanitarian aspect must be the guiding principle of our actions…you can never justify the use of public military force.” [Mexico, California officials question Texas border troop plan, July 28, 2014]

That’s coming from a government which uses its own military to fight drug cartels.

Governor Brown was downright condescending:

“I hesitate to comment on the thinking that goes into the support of the Texas National Guard on the border. I would suspect that it will be of a relatively short duration, and wiser minds will prevail over the next several months.”

Jerry Brown urges ‘religious call … to welcome the stranger’ in border crisis,By David Siders, SacBee. com, July 28, 2014

Here at VDARE.COM, we don’t have much confidence in Texas Governor Perry and don’t think his call-up of the National Guard to the border is going to amount to much. (Although as a veteran of the Texas National Guard, I’d love to be proven wrong).

Foreign Minister Meade also took the opportunity to declare that the lack of “reform” a.k.a. Amnesty/ Immigration Surge in the U.S. has left millions in uncertainty. ["Crisis de menores en la frontera no debe ser atendida por militares",by Natalia Gómez, El Universal, July 29, 2014]

More lectures from Mexico about how to run our immigration policy.

One of the members of Governor Moonbeam’s entourage was Kevin de Leon, a California state senator slated to become President Pro Tempore of the California State Senate in October. One of the legislators who helped bring about California driver’s licenses for illegal aliens, Kevin is also an advocate of gun control.

While in Mexico City, Kevin de Leon was bashing Republicans on foreign soil (so much for that old bit about partisanship ending at the border).

Speaking of migratory reform “la reforma migratoria” (Amnesty), Kevin de Leon said that the House of Representatives in Washington D.C. was “100% paralyzed”.

Furthermore, de Leon told the media that “a group of far-right extremists (ultraderechistas extremistas) has kidnapped/hijacked the Republican Party and the hostages are the innocent immigrant children.” [Entrevista. "México, en jaque ante reforma migratoria",By Natalia Gómez Quintero, El Universal, July 30, 2014]

The visit by Governor Moonbeam and his entourage shows clearly the post-American nature of our globalist elite, which won’t protect the border and encourages immigration, legal and illegal, and multiculturalism.

Way back in 1979, in an earlier term as governor, Jerry Brown said that “If in this state we can develop a multi-language, multicultural society, we have something we can show the entire world.” [In Mexico, a ‘new Jerry Brown’ comes around to free trade, By David Siders, Sacbee.com, July 30, 2014]

Thirty-five years later, Brown is governor again, and now he has his “multi-language, multicultural society” — called “Mexifornia” by some.

And yes, California has something to show to the world — the future, if present trends continue, of the whole United States of America.

Consider what Brown and company did on their visit — they promoted Open Borders, they took potshots at their fellow Americans back home, they made agreements with a foreign government.

Will the GOP publicly criticize this visit for what it is — budding treason?
