Of Course, Cornyn Is Lying About Planned Amnesty Push. GOP Base Can Probably Block — But Where’s Birthright Citizenship Reform?

Earlier: Texas’ John Cornyn Could Become GOP Senate Leader … And For The Historic American Nation, The Most Dangerous Republican on Capitol Hill

After pushing a red-flag gun-control bill last week, the lead Republican cosponsor, Texas Sen. John Cornyn, offered this gleeful take in the rarified atmosphere of bipartisan Beltway bonhomie: “First guns, now it’s immigration.” At least one Democratic senator cheered: Arizona’s Kyrsten Sinema. Immigration patriots should hear alarm bells. Ever since Joe Biden took office, Cornyn has tried to concoct an Amnesty sellout. So far, he’s come up empty. But the new spirit of “bipartisanship” might spur a new attempt to betray the Historic American Nation; Business-First Republicans will eagerly hop on board. Cornyn and his Treason Lobby friends do face a probably insurmountable obstacle: the GOP base. But the Congressional GOP should be thinking about offensive measures, for example ending Birthright Citizenship to build an “invisible wall” against the nation-breaking Biden Rush. There’s not much sign they are.

Cornyn tried to claim his immigration comment was merely a joke: “The Democrats and their allies in the media really can’t take a joke. There’s no secret Amnesty bill.” We shouldn’t take his word for it [John Cornyn Says Comment to Senators About Immigration Deal Was a Joke, by Sean Moran, Breitbart, June 21, 2022].

Just a few days before Cornyn played the comic, powerful Republican donors wrote GOP leaders in the House and Senate, Kevin McCarthy and Mitch McConnell, to demand more cheap foreign labor. The 14 signers want Amnesty for illegal aliens who came to the U.S. as minors, or “DREAMers.” And they just happened to send the letter on the 10th anniversary of President Obama’s signing Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, which gave hundreds of thousands of DREAMers temporary legal status [Republican donors to GOP leaders: Bipartisan immigration reform would ease inflation, by Sabrina Rodriguez, Politico, June 14, 2022].

“Improving border security and providing a pathway to citizenship for Dreamers is not only morally right; it is also absolutely crucial to addressing labor shortages, reducing food prices and creating jobs for all American families,” the deluded group claimed, adding that Amnesty is required to further America’s “global contest to attract and retain talent.” And, ludicrously, they averred that an Amnesty would help lower inflation. It probably also cures the common cold.

(Politico’s Rodriguez only identified two people involved with the letter: Craig Duchossois, executive chair of the private investment firm Duchossois Group, and Rebecca Shi, executive director of the American Business Immigration Coalition, which organized the group).

Let me go out on a limb: This group influenced Cornyn’s “joke.” After all, the outfit is tied to the senator financially and has his ear. Duchossois donated to Cornyn’s 2020 campaign and the Texan endorsed the donor group’s Amnesty effort in 2021 [With John Cornyn’s support, new Texas coalition forms to push for congressional fix for “Dreamers,”, by Patrick Svitek, Texas Tribune, February 2, 2022].

Another reason to suspect Cornyn wasn’t joking: he has led talks with Democrats on a potential immigration compromise since April. Politico’s Rodriguez reported that the talks have stalled, but the new bipartisan feeling might rejuvenate these discussions. Again, as I wrote last year, Cornyn is a major Amnesty booster.

Like the GOP cheap-labor lobby, Democrats are eager to permanently legalize DREAMers. Also “honoring” the decade of DACA last week, Democratic leaders held an event to insist that Congress must give a proper Amnesty to these illegal aliens. Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) said Cornyn was wrapped up in the gun control bill at the time, but was optimistic he could focus on immigration once that issue was off his plate. Cornyn confirmed that with his “joke.” Two House Republicans — Florida Rep. Maria Elvira Salazar and Washington Rep. Dan Newhouse — attended the DACA event. Salazar, a notorious Amnesty booster, told the press that her party needs to “welcome my people.” So disturbingly, some Republicans are definitely poised to sell out their voters [On DACA anniversary, Democrats call for Senate immigration action, by Suzanne Monyak, Roll Call, June 15, 2022].

A Dreamer Amnesty passed the House last year with nine Republican votes. It died immediately in the Senate. Along with fellow GOP squish Thom Tillis, Cornyn proposed a truncated Amnesty that offered only legalization to those who signed up for DACA (the House bill granted citizenship to all illegals who claimed they came to the U.S. as minors). The Cornyn Amnesty would have legalized fewer than 700,000 illegals, while the House bill would have given more than 2 million a pathway to citizenship. Democrats rejected the Republican proposal. But now, with a devastating defeat looming in the midterms, and with nothing to show to their Open-Borders base, Democrats might be open to Cornyn’s bill.

A Dreamer Amnesty isn’t the only corrupt deal the Senate could make. The Farm Workforce Modernization Act is another. It would legalize millions of illegal-alien agriculture and food processing workers. It also passed the House last year, but, significantly, with 30 Republican sellouts. Like the DREAMer Amnesty, it stalled in the Senate, but the upper chamber might revisit the bill given the special-interest support it has.

As well, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi spoke alongside the Congressional Hispanic Caucus at a Capitol Hill event last week to push for the Senate to pass the Big Ag Amnesty.

“House Democrats are calling upon our Republican colleagues to end their shameful blockade of these vital bills. Join us in honoring our farmworkers. As we, as we draw strength for the fight ahead, let us draw inspiration from the immortal words of today’s guests of honor: ‘Si, se puede.’

[Transcript of Pelosi Remarks at Congressional Hispanic Caucus Press Event, Speaker.Gov, June 22, 2022]

This bill drew three times as much support as the DREAMer Amnesty, and it’s strongly backed by Big Ag. Cornyn and his fellow traitorous Republicans might well make a deal on it. Two Republican lobbyists touted the bill in an op-ed for Fox News because it “represents a unique opportunity to make progress on a priority that is vital to the future of agriculture and our economy” [Immigration reform could prevent food prices from harming consumers, by Chuck Conner and Douglas Baker, June 3, 2022]. Dan Newhouse, one of the two GOP congressmen who appeared at the Democrats’ DACA fiesta, is aggressively stumping for the Big Ag Amnesty on Capitol Hill, and urging Republican senators to reward lawbreakers to alleviate labor concerns [Inflation and worker shortage fuel push on immigration bills, by Suzanne Monyak, Roll Call, May 9, 2022].

And Congress can come together to betray the American people in other ways, as Cornyn explained in a hearing on June 14 [Sen. John Cornyn Hints at Amnesty, Pro-Migration Deal with Democrats, by Neil Munro, Breitbart, June 22, 2022]. Among the ideas floated with Alex Padilla (D-CA), the Treason Lobbyist with whom he joked after the gun-grab passed, are these:

The only positive compromise is a border security bill Cornyn proposed with Sinema, the Democrat who seconded his turn toward immigration after the red-flag gun bill passed. The bill is mostly toothless because it simply aims to streamline the process for detained illegals and clear up the backlog. It doesn’t implement any serious border security measures such as ending catch-and-release. But it at least does no real harm.

Good news is, the Republican base wants absolutely nothing to do with Amnesty. After Cornyn suggested immigration would be the next sellout after guns, conservatives such as Donald Trump Jr. savaged him.

Even House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy rushed to say Amnesty is not on the table [Cornyn’s office denies bipartisan immigration bill in the works amid conservative uproar, by Adam Shaw, Fox News, June 22, 2022].

That Cornyn had to insist his comment was just a big joke shows that even he knows GOP voters don’t want it. If he had the courage of his convictions, he would proudly state that he’s working on an Amnesty, like ¡Jeb! Bush in 2015. Instead, he lied. Thus, the backlash seems to have worked.

The main immigration concern to Americans is getting control of the border, not rewarding illegals [Poll Finds More Americans Highly Concerned About Illegal Immigration, by Aline Barros, VOA, April 19, 2022]. Last week, a majority Hispanic district in Texas voted for a Mexico-born Republican, Mayra Flores, who ran primarily on border security and never mentioned Amnesty. (National Review says she supports a pathway to citizenship, but I can find no confirmation for this), Even Hispanics care more about border security than legalizing illegals.

Outside of Cornyn and a few others, Republicans on Capitol Hill don’t seem that interested in any sort of Amnesty. The border crisis is their primary concern and will help them in November’s midterm elections [Republicans return to politics of immigration as midterm strategy, by Lauren Gambino, The Guardian, May 2, 2022]. They don’t want to make a deal with the party allowing an invasion into our country. Cornyn himself admitted this at the June 14 hearing:

Continuing to ignore the crisis on the southern border — as the Biden administration has chosen to do — is only making it harder for us to build the support we need to grow our employment-based immigration system and our economy.

[Sen. John Cornyn Hints at Amnesty, Pro-Migration Deal with Democrats, by Neil Munro, Breitbart, June 22, 2022]

Republicans would be foolish to back an Amnesty or an expansion of legal immigration during the worst border crisis in our nation’s history.

But simply opposing Amnesty isn’t enough. The Biden Regime has released more than 1 million illegals to colonize the heartland since Traitor Joe took office. A significant number will bear children. Yet the GOP is not pushing to end birthright citizenship, or demanding an immigration moratorium and mass deportations, or other positive measures to stop the Camp-of-the-Saints invasion and return some measure of sanity to this discussion.

If opposing Amnesty is the best we can get, we must take it. After all, Cornyn and Treason Lobby Republicans will push for it until the end of time. But with each new month setting a record for illegal-alien apprehensions, GOP immigration patriots on Capitol Hill must not simply try to hold their ground.

They must attack, and attack now. The Historic American Nation depends upon it.
