THE SILENT RAPE EPIDEMIC: Why Finland Fell For Multiculturalism — And How It Might Bounce Back

Finland is the happiest country in the world — so claims a report published in mid-March by the UN Sustainable Solutions Network. This quiet country of just 5.5 million — the home of Nokia and Angry Birds — is far happier than the USA, despite far lower per capita GDP and eye-watering tax rates. Key to Finland topping the survey is its “income, healthy life expectancy, social support…self-reported wellbeing, as well as perceptions of corruption, generosity and freedom”. But on the ground, is the land of sauna and Sibelius really so content? According to an explosive a new book by a British expatriate who has been living in northern Finland since 2005, it most certainly is not. Until recently homogenous and safe, the former Swedish colony and then Russian Grand Duchy is being convulsed by the phenomenon of Muslim “refugees” grooming and gang raping under-aged Finnish girls, centred around Oulu in Finland’s north. Finland is in shock that the authorities and media colluded to cover up the scandal and that Finland’s fanatically pro-immigration and out-of-touch political class continue nonchalantly exposing its daughters to gangs of Arabs, as I have reported before.

In The Silent Rape Epidemic: How the Finns Were Groomed to Love Their Abusers, Edward Dutton, who is Adjunct Professor of the Anthropology of Religion and Finnish Culture at Oulu University, reports all that I did and updates it, noting that, as he went to print, there were 29 Arab refugees before the courts for grooming and raping under-age Finnish girls, mainly of working class backgrounds.

Dutton first came to Oulu in 2003 and he reminisces on what an innocent place it was: silent and shy people, golliwogs on candy packets, teenage girls hitchhiking into the city center; nothing of interest to report in the newspapers and certainly no rapes.

He takes us on a journey forward through time, noting how his adopted city — he is married to a Finnish woman — gradually changed beyond recognition: a young woman raped with a pair scissors by Muslims in 2005, girls raped by Muslims with semi-regularity in parks thereafter, a Muslim killing someone in a bar with an axe before being shot by police, the newspapers reporting only that the perpetrators were of “foreign background”, the prosecution of immigration critics, one for quoting VDARE.com (!) and the grooming scandal only coming to light because of the persistence of two (very atypical) Oulu independent Finnish nationalist councillors: a couple called Junes Lokka (half-Moroccan) and his fiancée Tiina Wiik (half-Sami, the reindeer herders of Lapland), who vlog as “Swan of Tuonela”.

Dutton also vlogs, as “The Jolly Heretic,” where he has talked about the findings in his book.

Why has Multiculturalism taken over Finland with such incredible speed and ferocity? It may be no coincidence that the two activists who rocked the boat are, genetically, only half-Finnish. Most of Dutton’s research is in evolutionary psychology, and he argues, in part based on original research by himself and his research team, that the reason can be found in the Finns’ unusual evolutionary history.

Evolved to an extremely cold yet stable ecology, they have been strongly selected for high intelligence. Dutton shows that the average IQ of the Finns, based on very large and representative samples, is about 103, three points above the average for European countries and close to that of Japan. He presents evidence that they have the fastest reaction times in Europe (these being a robust negative correlate of IQ) and the highest percentage with a polymorphism that predicts high IQ.

In addition, Dutton presents evidence of Finns being very high in the personality traits Agreeableness and Conscientiousness, both of which allow the development of highly cooperative groups, being part of which is vital for survival in a harsh ecology.

The result: a terrible double-edged sword. Intelligence predicts being trusting, cooperative, altruistic and community-minded, as does Agreeableness and Conscientiousness. This creates a safe, if dull and conformist, society. But it can also be “weaponized” against the Finns. Finns will, to a unique extent, trust and sympathise with invaders presented as “refugees” and trust their leaders. Finns will be uniquely desperate not to “rock the boat” and question whatever ideology comes to predominate.

And it gets worse. Dutton shows that originality, including scientific genius and even being a leading political dissident, is a product of an optimum mixture of outlier high IQ and moderately anti-social personality — an improbable combination which occurs by genetic chance. But if the environment is very harsh, Darwinian selection is intense, meaning that you end up with a very small gene pool, which is exactly what Dutton shows that the Finns have. Accordingly, though they have high IQ (IQ being about 80% genetic) they have a very narrow IQ range. And though they have a cooperative personality, the range is extremely small.

Put simply, they’re all very similar to each other and they are “too nice.” This means very few geniuses — and Dutton highlights Finns’ very low level of per capita Science Nobels, almost all of them won by the country’s 5% Swedish-speaking minority — and so very few people prepared to challenge the leadership and “rock the boat.”

For Dutton, the Finns, like the Japanese, have adopted a strategy of “ethnocentrism” — he gives examples of their extreme positive and negative ethnocentrism in war time, especially when the Soviets tried to invade in 1939 — because a “genius strategy,” where you are low in ethnocentrism but produce geniuses which allow you to spread out and dominate other groups, has been impossible due to the small gene pool.

Dutton then takes us on a tour of Finnish history up to modern day, highlighting Finns’ ethnocentrism and their failure to maintain democracy for long. They always seem to fall into autocracy, because democracy requires an optimum balance between “trust” and “questioning your leaders” and Finns are simply too trusting and too conflict-averse to do that.

This has culminated, argues Dutton, in Multiculturalism taking over at breakneck speed. Finns, he claims, have been late adopting the Multicultural Death Cult for a variety of reasons: their status as a Soviet semi-client state in the Cold War paradoxically meant the preservation of conservative values, including religion, and minimum immigration; they were poor until recently, meaning that, like Eastern Europe, they know what it is to suffer and struggle; later mass immigration meant a later collapse in trust and so a collapse in nationalism; a smaller gene pool causes greater suspicion of outsiders; and later industrialization led to dysgenics and maladaptive ways of thinking caused by “mutant genes” manifesting later than in other European countries. Finns were under harsh Darwinian selection, with minimal access to medicine, until more recently than countries like the UK or France, meaning greater selection against “mutant genes.”

Now, notes Dutton, Multiculturalism and a treacherous political class are thoroughly entrenched. Grooming and gang rape, Dutton maintains, are an inevitable evolutionary consequence of the presence of large numbers of very low status, single males from a different ethnic group with a religion that mandates raping infidel females.

In such circumstances, argues Dutton, the rape of young girls is simply the most efficient way for such men to pass on their genes; they are evolved towards this instinct, especially as Darwinian selection is stronger in the backward Middle East than in Europe.

But The Silent Rape Epidemic does end on a hopeful note for Finland and, maybe to a lesser extent, Europe as a whole. For Dutton, the Finns are also uniquely able to reverse Multiculturalism. It will elevate stress among the Finns, which will cause them to become more in touch with their cognitive bias towards ethnocentrism. This will likely to lead to ethnocentrism rising in popularity until it reaches a tipping point and becomes dominant.

And, once it does, many of the same Finns who currently don’t question Multiculturalism won’t question the new nationalism either.

So, perhaps nationalist Finns needn’t be despondent in the long term. In the short term, however, the situation in Oulu in particular continues to become more and more horrific. It was reported in the Finnish newspapers on March 22, two weeks after The Silent Rape Epidemic was published, that a 44-year-old man — origin unstated, needless to say — was sentenced to a mere 3 years and 8 months in jail for raping a 9 year old girl in Oulu’s mosque.

This mosque, according to Dutton, is Wahabist and its imam, Social Democrat councillor, Dr Abdul Mannan’s, son-in-law was killed fighting for ISIS. Finnish tabloid Ilta-Sanomat’s Miria Rintala reports that worshippers at the mosque told her this paedophile was “a great man.” [Kommentti: Nyt ei salailu ja kaunistelu auta — Oulussa tuomion tuonut lapsiraiskaus on iljettävä rikos, March 22, 2019]
