Harry Reid claims Adelson is not a bad guy and not motivated by money.
"He’s in it because he has certain ideological views,” Reid said, referring to Adelson. “Now, Sheldon Adelson’s social views are in keeping with the Democrats. On choice, on all kinds of things. So, Sheldon Adelson, don’t pick on him. He’s not in it to make money.”

James Fulford writes: This confirms what Patrick Cleburne has said — what Adelson himself has said — about Adelson being basically a social liberal. Reid is wrong about Adelson not being "in it to make money”. Both Adelson and the Koch brothers are in "in it to make money” — you don’t absent-mindedly become a billionaire while you're doing something else.
But the Kochs do have some conservative principles and beliefs (which is why Reid hates them) while Adelson’s motives for being a Republican are pure billionaire.
