Am I too paranoid to think that one reason Speaker Boehner has chosen to reemphasize Benghazi (e.g., appointing a select committee to investigate) is to keep his base engaged and on board while he tries to smuggle amnesty by them? … P.S.: It is no accident, in this view, that Boehner would pick South Carolina Rep. Trey Gowdy to head the investigation, since Gowdy is potentially a significant amnesty sellout squish backslider who could use some prophylactic shoring up with core GOP voters. …
Trey Gowdy (R. SC) is being promoted so he can later sell amnesty to conservatives.

Gowdy is no tough guy. He folds when challenged. Steve King, the single dissenter on Gowdy’’s pro-amnesty hearings (who’s supposed to be a dumb farmer from Iowa), debunked everything Gowdy (who’s supposed to be an awesome prosecutor) said in five minutes. It is ironic that Chuck Grassley and Steve King are the ones tearing up the bad guys at judiciary hearings. "

Gowdy also took offense at King’s criticism during the hearing of the South Carolinian’s own comments about needing a permanent immigration law solution.

“Did you hear his five minutes?” Gowdy asked a scrum of reporters about King’s statement. “He took one line from my opening statement about a remedy that lasts a lifetime and lectures me about the rule of law. I was a prosecutor for 15 years.”"
