Roberts argues that insufficient regulations have brought down the banking industry and has taken our economy with it.

But really, there are plenty of rules. Look at Bankersonline.com to see the thousands of regulations and hundreds of thousands of pages detailing exactly what those laws cover.

What’s missing is oversight.

The financial crisis comes at an inconvenient time for our federal legislators. The November election is only about six weeks away.

Voters have an opportunity to make a statement. Let’s hope they rise to the occasion.
