Due to "sequestration" the Department of Defense is planning to furlough thousands of Civilians, who do everything from computer programming, to accounting. It will be a big financial blow.
They will be doing some exceptions … see below in red. (DLI stands for Defense Language Institute, the Department of Defense school for teaching foreign languages.)
a. Civilians Deployed in Combat Zones
b. SATFA validated Foreign Military Sales Funded employees
c. DLI H1-B Visa Holders
d. Security Guards
Persons in categories a, b, and d make sense but H1-B Visa Holders!?
