Re: Brenda Walker’s article Conspirators In Cassocks: Catholic Bishops (But Not Laity) Betraying America

From: Larry Spencer

By Brenda Walker writes

A Google News search for Catholic Priest Sex Abuse on March 31, covering just one month, got 6,830 results. The stories include trials going on, compensation paid to victims, and (depressing to see) new charges.

Did Ms. Walker run head first into the Border fence before reporting this?

Here is the Media Report with the facts:

The facts which the mainstream media won’t tell you about

Here are the simple facts about the Catholic Church abuse story you will not see reported anywhere in the mainstream media and which once again only underscore that the abuse story is no longer really "news" but merely a media obsession borne of animus for an institution which the media so dislikes:

• 40% of all identified priests who were accused in 2013 were already long deceased;

• 78% of all identified priests who were accused in 2013 are either already deceased, already removed from ministry, already laicized, or simply missing; and

• 90% of all abuse accusations last year allege incidents from at least 25 years ago.[More]

Ms. Walker writes:

“Catholic bishops have accelerated their anti-American Open Borders crusade to fluff up their scandal-scarred morality cred in the Main Stream Media and to nudge “immigrants” (legality immaterial) to attend the church that supports ethnic separatism and disdains assimilation.”

It is clear that Ms. Walker hates the Church but she ought to deny herself (It is Lent) the hateful practice of attributing malign motives to others.

See previous letters from the same reader.

James Fulford writes: I will admit that the media has concentrated on the “Catholic Priest” part of the sex scandals. Apparently “Catholic Priest” is a category that the MSM will put in a headline, whereas “gay sex abuse”, or “Hispanic sexual abuse” will be buried in the bottom of paragraph 3, if reported at all. That being said, accusations are down, not gone, and incidents do continue.

A search for the words “new charges priest sex” finds several recent incidents, including one in Maplewood, MN, involving an adult woman, and one in Canada involving a priest of a Syro-Malabar Catholic Church, who could not only be described as a Catholic priest, but as an Indian immigrant, but he’s not.

Years ago, I quoted the great Catholic polemicist, G. K. Chesterton, to the effect that

"In my own jog-trot journalistic existence, I have generally tried to keep this balance, and to distribute abuse and vituperation in such elegant and well chosen proportions, that no nobody can be offended or feel that he has been left out of the fun."[ As I Was Saying, 1936]

We have many sincere and devout Catholic writers on VDARE.com, to balance any who may seem anti-Catholic, and as for the "hateful practice of attributing malign motives to others", this is our actual job as journalists, and as it’s a work of necessity, it can’t stop even for the Sabbath.
