Re: James Fulford’s Blog: Was Barack Obama An Affirmative Action Case In Law School? A Libertarian VP Candidate Will Bet A Million Dollars He Was
I offer up my letter today as proof that my Saturday letter wherein I speculated that Barack Obama’s SAT scores ranged around 1200 was right on the nose.
The current issue of U.S. News & World Report published its "Best National Universities" list.
Columbia ranks eighth on its list with 25-75 SAT scores ranging between 1360 and 1540 or an average of 1450 average — that would translate to1350 on the old scale.
It’s well known that prestige universities admit minority students whose average is about 200 points less on the SAT than the class as a whole. That would make the average on the former scale about 1150.
I assume Columbia’s students SAT scores were the same when Obama went there.
My conclusion therefore is that Obama likely got less than 1150 on the SAT when he took it. Remember, he was not initially admitted to an Ivy League university but rather to Occidental College in Los Angeles.
Obama, don’t forget, is the guy who would campaign in all 57 states (see his claim here) and whose uncle liberated Auschwitz.
