Re: Paul Gottfried’s article Sorry, Jonah — Jewish/Democrat Alliance Not Ending Anytime Soon

From A Jewish Conservative Reader

As a Jewish constitutional conservative I found Paul Gottfried’s article in VDARE.com had many valid thoughts.

The divergence between the Western and Eastern European Jewish immigrants is an important point. Being of Ukrainian descent I observed (in the 1930s) the hatred of we, the unwashed masses. As well, the German Jews thought of themselves as Germans. My group were always outsiders.

All of the Jews I knew in my youth were Socialists of one bent or another. You may recall the cry from the Spanish Civil War “No enemy on the Left”. Even while the Stalinists were killing the other Socialists (democrats), no criticism could be made.

I do support Israel strongly, articularly since they have broken from their Socialist roots. Have you thought about the reasons for Obama’s preference for a leftist government there?

Israel serves the purposes of the United States. A platform (Aircraft Carrier?) in the Middle East. Our thumb in the eye of the enemy civilization.

Jonah serves a purpose as well. Quibble as we will with the details, he has popularized thoughts that could not be uttered in years gone by. Could his transgressions be excused by two of his premises?liberalfascism

  1. He has reminded Americans that the Nazi’s were socialists. (Full name: National Socialist German Worker’s Party.) By associating the word Nazi with the left in the minds of many Americans he may have done benefit for which many sins can be forgiven.
  2. He has brought to popular thought the inevitable faults of the Leviathan state.

I for one accept allies for all their imperfections.

By James Fulford writes: Paul Gottfried, as a genuine scholar of Fascism is inclined to be dismissive of Jonah’s best-selling Liberal Fascism. I kind of like it, though. It reminds me of something libertarian theorist L. Neil Smith said once:

Conservatives are accustomed to being called fascists and are well prepared to defend themselves on that ground. Liberals are used to being called socialists. Those labels can be switched, however, and remain valid and instructive. It also catches them completely unprepared.

However, when Goldberg tackles the subject of race, progressivism and "eugenics" in Liberal Fascism, it’s just embarrassing.
