Re Paul Craig Roberts' column, "Americans Are Oppressed, Too"
I couldn’t agree more with Paul Craig Roberts' column, "Americans Are Oppressed, Too." Last January I was stopped and frisked for no reason at all while walking in my hometown of Sebring in Florida. I wrote a letter to Vdare.com about this horrible experience, "Walking While White."
Since then, I've been stopped while walking at night by at least eight other cops. One of them even tried to confiscate my out-of-state driver’s license, which had expired, saying I didn’t have proper Florida I.D. His supervisor thankfully made him give it back.
Needless to say, every time I venture outside my apartment, I'm extremely paranoid, afraid I'll get harassed by a cop. (I've never committed a crime in my life.)
I've contacted lawyers, none of whom think it’s a big deal.
This has never happened to me before.
America is truly a police state now.
