I've lived in Los Angeles all my life and listened to George Putnam for most of my adult years.
A few years ago, I had the pleasure to meet him at a fund-raiser for his fellow broadcaster Terry Anderson.
Putnam was so gracious to me that I became an even bigger fan. I love the story he told about his father, during the Depression, being reduced to selling peanuts door to door.

But, despite his party affiliation, Republicans loved Putnam, too.
Richard Nixon called him America’s "most influential" broadcaster.
Like every other immigration reform patriot, I will miss George.
