Re: Joe Guzzardi’s Column: Al Franken On Immigration: The Bad And The Good (Yes, I Said Good!)
Franken wasted no time in subverting America.
On the second day of his new job, former jokester and recent sworn-in Minnesota Senator Al Franken proved himself not so funny when he voted against Senator Jim DeMint’s amendment to Homeland Security’s 2010 Appropriation Bill requiring double-layer fencing along 700 miles of the U.S.-Mexico border.
Franken also voted against strengthening employee identification procedures (E-verify) to keep aliens out of the shrinking U. S. job market.
Franken would not comment directly, but his spokeswoman said, "On the border fence vote, none of the relevant effective law enforcement agencies were indicating this was something they needed or wanted." [Klobuchar, Franken Differ on Immigration Votes, by Cynthia Dizikes, MinnPost.com, July 8,2009]
Good news, however. Both bills passed and Franken’s fellow Democratic Senator, Amy Klobuchar, historically terrible on immigration, voted in favor of the measures.
