Re: Joe Guzzardi’s Column: To My Agnostic, Atheist, Jewish and Muslim Friends: Merry Christmas!

Please don’t lump people like me in with Muslims, Jews, or anti-Christian unbelievers.

And especially don’t group me with the politically correct mentally ill. I'm an atheist, but often I'm the first to wish someone a Merry Christmas.

Usually it’s the poor store clerk or call-center employee on the other end of the phone that was instructed not to use "Christmas" to his customers.

Why do I say "Merry Christmas?"

Because that’s the name of the holiday! And since most people in the Western civilization that I so cherish celebrate it, why not?

If I know the person I'm speaking to is Jewish, then I'll wish them "Happy Hanukkah." It’s not my place, or anyone else’s, to take away somebody’s holiday.

Merry Christmas to all of you at VDARE.COM!
