James Fulford wrote, "Tonight is Twelfth Night, or Epiphany, traditionally the end of the Christmas season. Peter Brimelow will be announcing the winner of the War on Christmas Competition soon, somewhat delayed by the press of other work. This also is traditional."

I certainly don’t want to encourage Mr. Fulford, Mr. Brimelow, or anyone else to adopt procrastination as the Word of the Year for 2011, but since you speak of tradition, you will, I trust, pardon me for reminding you that the genuinely traditional ending of the Christmas season occurs on January 13, the last day within the octave of the Epiphany. In other words, as I type, you still have another six full days minus three hours before Christmas obligations get transferred to the Past Due column.

May the New Year bring you happiness, health, and prosperity!
