Although New York Senator Chuck Schumer doesn’t have quite the reputation for open borders advocacy that his colleagues John McCain and Teddy Kennedy do, he certainly should.
In the twenty-five years that he has been in Congress, Schumer has supported every amnesty and guest worker program put in front of him.
In 2007 for example, Schumer cosponsored (S 988), the Save Our Small and Seasonal Businesses Act. This bill would have exempted any alien who has been present in the United States as an H-2B nonimmigrant worker for any one of the previous three fiscal years and who is returning to work as an H-2B from counting against the 66,000-per-year cap on H-2B.
We know what a joke S.988 was because no seasonal business closed up.
Not only has been Schumer been putting it to Americans on immigration, he’s been working actively to keep them in the dark on their financial investments so that he could stay on the good side of his major donor, Wall Street, that has given him over $6 million during his career.
The New York Times revealed December 12 that Schumer consistently opposed more disclosure to investors from Wall Street regarding their portfolios that included derivatives.
In exchange for his ongoing work to ensure that tighter regulations would never come to pass as well as his successful efforts to save financial institutions billions of dollars in higher taxes or fees, Schumer, a member of the Banking and Finance committees:
"…Has collected over his career more in campaign contributions from the securities and investment industry than any of his peers in Congress, with the exception of Senator John F. Kerry of Massachusetts, the Democratic nominee for president in 2004, according to the Center for Responsive Politics, which analyzed federal data."[A Champion of Wall Street Reaps Benefits, by Eric Lipton and Raymond Hernandez, New York Times, December 13, 2008]
What a wonderful life for Schumer!
He, on the one hand, works to destroy America’s fabric by his pro-immigration activism. And on the other hand, he helps bring financial ruin to millions in exchange for blood money to keep him in a job he doesn’t deserve.
In 2010, Schumer comes up for re-election. Maybe by then New York voters will be wise to his real agenda — doing what’s best for Charles Ellis Schumer.
