Re: Steve Sailer’s Column: Flynn Flips: IQ Tests Do Matter
I found Sailer’s comment about contemporary textbooks particularly gratifying.
Sailer wrote:
"Contemporary science books for children are attention deficit-disordered, featuring dozens of images per pair of pages, along with captions, call-outs, and other distractions."
It reminded me of a comment I once made to some schoolteachers and administrators about a high school Spanish textbook that I had to use as a substitute teacher. I told them that the book looked more like an AIDS patchwork quilt than a cogent and rational text. Naturally, they didn’t appreciate my remarks.
By the way, every able-bodied high school graduate free of serious criminal convictions or known moral turpitude upon reaching the age of 35 should be required as a matter of mandatory national community service to put in one week’s duty as a substitute teacher in a public high school. You'll get a close up look at what’s really going on.
