I’m more than a little suspicious of these new immigration surveys that are now showing conservatives defecting in droves to the amnesty/legalization/regularization…whatever…positions for illegal aliens. It appears there are some well-funded propaganda efforts are underway to influence the conservative base that their fellow conservatives are going over to the “dark” amnesty side. This contradicts the large quantity and significant intensity of comments from conservative posters denouncing any proposed immigration amnesty/legalization plans in conservative and general news web sites.
An example of the latest psych-ops survey directed to conservatives:
By Dick Morris, The Hill, March 5, 2013
“Anew blockbuster survey by the noted Republican survey research firm McLaughlin and Associates reveals a stunning reversal of opinion by Republican voters on the issue of immigration reform. Where once there was hardened opposition to such legislation, a national sample of 500 self-described likely Republican voters shows broad support now emerging for the measure.”
“The McLaughlin Survey was conducted Feb. 26-28 and has a margin of error of 4 points. It was organized and funded (???) by California winery owner and major GOP donor John Jordan.” [Emphasis added]
Now let us check out this highly slanted question from the actual survey, available on the McLaughlin and Associates websites:
“44 7 Q7. — SUPPORTERS OF IMMIGRATION REFORM SAY THAT REPUBLICANS ARE LOSING HISPANIC VOTERS BECAUSE THEY ARE PERCEIVED AS ANTI-HISPANIC. BARACK OBAMA WON 71% OF THE HISPANIC VOTES IN THE 2012 ELECTION FOR PRESIDENT. WITH THE GROWING HISPANIC POPULATION, THEY SAY, THE REPUBLICAN PARTY WILL NEVER WIN A NATIONAL ELECTION UNLESS THEY RESOLVE THE IMMIGRATION ISSUE. IN VIEW OF THIS ARGUMENT, WOULD YOU SUPPORT OR OPPOSE REPUBLICAN SENATOR MARCO RUBIO’s IMMIGRATION BILL?”[PDF]
Just in case conservatives were still unsure whether these new citizens would be allies with them against the encroaching left, the following totally separate survey of Hispanics should put them at ease:
“A separate survey of 1,100 U.S. citizens of Latino or Hispanic descent revealed “a strong propensity” of those polled to “side with the Republican Party over issues of family, crime, drugs, church, debt, and social welfare policies.”
“Most of those interviews were conducted between Jan. 2-31 in person by Rafael Gimenez, pollster to former Mexican President Felipe Calderon.” [Emphasis added] Two Out of Three Republican Voters Support Immigration Reform, by Paul Scicchitano, NewsMax.com, March 2, 2013.
For some obscure reason I do not have a high confidence level in this survey! In effect, this is a déjà-vu of “family values do not end at the Rio Grande” type propaganda previously promulgated by George W. Bush and Karl Rove to con the evangelical voters into backing the 2006 and 2007 CIR bills. Steve Sailer called it “pollaganda.”
Obviously, conservatives and immigration patriots have to very aware of the efforts being directed to them in order to weaken their resolve against illegal immigration amnesty legislation. They should remember to “follow the money” when evaluating these supposed legitimate news items that are little more than paid advertisements for the open borders cabal.
