Criticize Trump all you want, but this paragraph by Bret Stephens in the WSJ is priceless:

"It says that we may soon have a conservative movement in which the American creed of 'give us your tired, your poor' could yield to the Trumpian creed that America must not become a 'dumping ground' to poor immigrants from Latin America, as if these millions of hardworking and God-fearing people are a specimen of garbage." The Donald and the Demagogues, Aug. 31, 2015

So what about opening up Israel to the tired and poor of the world, in particular tens of millions of God-fearing immigrants from Africa who would love to live in Tel Aviv?

By James Fulford writes: I can’t resist pointing out that the Emma Lazarus poem Stephens is quoting, the one that said “give us your tired, your poor” went on to call the immigrants — Ms. Lazarus was thinking of her oppressed co-religionists fleeing Czarist Russia — “the wretched refuse of your teeming shore.”

In fact, neither Lazarus nor Trump was calling the immigrants trash, they are both saying that they are being dumped on America. Lazarus thought that that the US should accept this, Trump doesn’t.
