Great article, but I haven’t heard anyone mention the fact that the Dawes Act of 1887 and Indian Citizenship Act of 1924 are further proof that the 14th Amendment was never intended to give citizenship to all born in the US.

American Indians were considered under "tribal jurisdiction" and thus not citizens. If the 14th Amendment had been held applicable to them these congressional acts would have been totally unneeded.

Something to think about.
