Re: Michelle Malkin’s columns The Wine-Sipping Butchers of Planned Parenthood and Medical Monsters vs. Life-Giving Angels, not to mention Pat Buchanan’s Do Planned Parenthood Revelations Presage “A New Dark Age?”
From: A Reader In Berkeley
Let’s keep VDARE.com out of the abortion debate. Not all your readers share Michelle Malkin’s adamant opposition to abortion and her visceral revulsion at the thought of fetal body parts being used for medical research.
My brother-in-law, an obstetrician-gynecologist, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, and traveled twice to China in the early 1990s to have transplants of fetal pancreatic cells that potentially could have saved him from a slow, agonizing death.
Such surgery could not be performed in the U.S. at the time because of attitudes like Malkin’s.
In the event, the transplants did not work — probably because of the too-great genetic distance between the Chinese donor cells and those of the recipient. Going to China proved no solution.
Opponents of abortion who wish to ban “trafficking” of fetal organs can swear to refuse, for themselves and their loved ones, any future lifesaving medical procedure that was derived in any way from the tissue of aborted fetuses.
But leave the rest of us alone to make our own choices.
By Peter Brimelow writes: Let me say right away that we are very sorry for this reader’s loss. My own first wife died terribly of breast cancer, but she certainly benefited from stem cell research and was also an ardent proponent of her right to die, although she had been raised a Catholic and became a serious Anglo-Catholic.
VDARE.com is a coalition focused only the immigration issue. Some of our group are vehemently pro-choice, especially Don Collins, who is actually a major supporter of abortifacient research.
However, these were syndicated columns, from the very few MSM columnists who are also immigration patriots. We post all syndicated columns regardless of subject, partly because we have to pay for all of them. That’s e.g. why we had divergent articles about the Iraq War. We don’t impose a party line on non-immigration issues.
I have to say my heart sank when I saw these columns, because I knew they would upset some of our readers — but that excluding them would upset others.
Personally, I increasingly support retroactive abortion and have a lengthening list of candidates.(Note to Leftist vigilante groups : THIS IS A JOKE.)
