Re: Washington Watcher’s article Many Immigration Patriots Poised To Win House Races

Michael Lee Phillips, the Republican candidate for Congress against Democrat Chris Van Hollen in Maryland’s 8th District (Montgomery County), initially advocated a 250,000 annual cap on legal immigration in the Plague of Women Voters voting guide. Now he has backed away from that weak position in an online paper entitled "Support for Legal Immigration and Upholding Existing Federal Law".

Despite his capitulation to undoubted neocon blackmail, Phillips' statement at least mentions one problem with mass legal Third World immigration:

"When you allow 100,000 legal immigrants into the country each month and as many as 200,000 illegally, we find ourselves in a position of needing to create 1,300,000 new jobs just to keep pace. The jobs we do have suddenly pay less because of the downward pressure on salaries by 600,000 new entrants into the job market who are more than willing to earn less than those who lost their jobs."

In respect of Raúl Grijalva, I disagree with Washington Watcher’s favorable view for Ruth McClung, a pro-amnesty Republican.

To quote Lenin, "the worse, the better". It will be increasingly difficult for Democrats to portray their party as an acceptable alternative for white Americans if their officeholders are radical, anti-American nonwhites like Grijalva and Obama. Furthermore, the Republican majority in the next Congress will be better off without McClung, who could join McCain and Lindsay Graham as a "go to" Republican on immigration by the news media.
