Re: Washington Watcher’s blog item The Slave Power In Action: Billionaire GOP Donor Bob Perry (Deceased) Supported Amnesty That Would Make Him Richer

When discussing the Slave Power, Bob Perry’s positions indicate that we must be concerned not only about a cheap labor lobby, but also about a high rent, high home price lobby.
Bringing in immigrants, legal or illegal, and refugees helps bid up rents and home prices. I am sure there are many slumlords out there charging a lot of rent for a lot of people to be crammed into one apartment, because they are illegal and won’t complain.
As with cheap labor, we have concentrated profits and diffused costs, as the strains on water supplies, utilities, and public accommodations are shared by the public at large. So, in short, a suggestion that we discuss not only the cheap labor lobby, but also the high rent lobby.

James Fulford writes: The events of September 11, 2001 should have caused a rush of immigration policy realism to the head of America’s leaders, but as you recall, it didn’t. That’s because there are MANY lobbies that profit off immigration. In October 2001, DR. Norm Matloff listed them in a letter to VDARE.com:
The fact is that it has always been the case that most Americans, including most immigrant Americans, have been in the restrictionist camp. The problem has been that the wishes of the populace have always been trumped by the special interests, such as:
- the ethnic-activist groups lobby
- the educational lobby
- the computer industry lobby
- the manufacturing industry lobby
- the farm lobby
- the immigration lawyers' lobby
- the libertarians (often funded by other lobbies)
etc., etc., etc.
The events of September 11 have not changed this picture.[ Norm Matloff Warns Immigration Reformers; Peter Brimelow Replies, October 16, 2001]
The Real Estate/Housing Bubble/Building Industry lobby is just one more to add to the list.
