Obama has recently demanded a 30 percent reduction in carbon emissions from our power plants. The power companies are howling and threatening to sue, but wouldn’t it be logical for them to point out that much of our carbon emissions are directly caused by out of control immigration since 1965? One policy (immigration) seems at odds with the other (emissions reduction). [Greenhouse gas: Obama to order steeper cuts for power plants,By Josh Lederman, AP, 2015]
Our population has doubled since 1965, almost all of that due to third world immigrants and their high fertility. The USA is responsible for 25 percent of the world’s energy consumption. It doesn’t take much math to figure out that if our population had remained about 160 million or so, the amount of green house gases released in our atmosphere would be about half what it is. The amount of green house gasses worldwide would be reduced 12 percent.
Given this math, why aren’t power and coal companies our natural allies in this fight?
$100 million may buy off the Sierra Club but utilities have much deeper pockets and much more to lose.
