Re: Joe Guzzardi’s Column: Meet the Senate Judiciary Committee — Your Fate Is In Its Hands Right Now
Might it be appropriate to ask why the Judiciary Committee even has jurisdiction over immigration? Shouldn’t it be a matter for the Department of Defense or the Department of Labor?
Even by Senate standards the Judiciary Committee is perhaps the least representative of Americans as a whole since nearly all of its members are lawyers. [VDARE.COM note: the non-lawyers are Charles Grassley, Tom Coburn, Herbert Kohl and Dianne Feinstein]
As professions and trades go, lawyers are easily the most immune to our current immigration boondoggle.
Not many illegal aliens have law degrees. And even it they did, they couldn’t practice.
Almost none of the people admitted under H1-B visas or family reunification are lawyers.
Many H1-Bs are computer scientists or engineers. I don’t think I’m going out on a limb to suggest that there isn’t any senator with a degree in computer science or engineering.
The more I think about it perhaps an altogether new and separate committee should be formed.
