I thought you’d be interested to hear the topic of the homily for the Christmas Eve Children’s Mass at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in DC. It took an obviously globalist tone, and I probably shouldn’t be surprised with Pope Francis running the show.
Monsignor Rossi played the Open Borders card and lamented his concern for immigrants across our country who are suffering because of our closed-minded government. He also said that Jesus’s birthplace in Bethlehem was experiencing rioting due to unpopular political decisions by our government.
Then during the General Intercessions, our first prayer went out to the immigrants and refugees here and around the world who are facing an uncertain future, again due to the political decisions of our country.
It wasn’t until the third or fourth prayer that we were to ask God to look over our own service men and women. Again, this was during the Children’s Mass.
Maybe I’m old fashioned (at 36 years old?) but I thought maybe the homily of a children’s mass would be geared more toward the children themselves, as such masses have been in the past.
As I did not want to be a Scrooge, I decided to wait until after Christmas to write you, but I did send an email bright and early on Christmas morning to Monsignor Rossi letting him know how my wife and I felt about this.
