Today I had a cold-call from someone peddling "immigration reform". He asked me if I was aware of the bill pending before Congress on immigration. I told him I was well aware of the bill but I asked him what he meant by "reform". He went down the usual talking points of "enforcing the borders" and "making sure everyone is legal". He was definitely pitching the current amnesty bill as if it was an enforcement bill.
I wanted to get my views across to him in no uncertain terms. I asked him directly. "Is this for the proposed bill to "reform" immigration?" He replied yes. I said "OK, let me tell you what I think. I think all immigrants should be thrown out of the country. We have double digit unemployment and we don’t need any more of them!"
He laughed and said, "can I patch you through to your Senator?" I said, you betcha!. And then I laid the same spiel on an unwitting staffer.
Funny thing, I think the guy who called me was just a hired gun and was amused by my vitriolic response. I wonder how many more of us are out there giving these cold-callers hell.
