Mr. Horowitz,

I see that Robert Locke, a FrontPage Magazine columnist, is writing for VDARE.com. (see: "A 90-Day Pause Now!").

Please review the following letter recently published by VDARE.com. A Californian Wonders - First Arabs, Next Chinese?

Do you find it shocking? Do you see any similarities between it and, say, Volume I, Chapter 2 of Mein Kampf in particular?

Mr. Horowitz, why do you associate with Robert Locke? Do you share his views? Do you share the views of VDARE.com?

Cordially,

Paul

Peter Brimelow responds: Probably David Horowitz has more important things to do than respond to this, so I will. Back in 1995, I opened Alien Nation with this paragraph:

There is a sense in which current immigration policy is Adolf Hitler's posthumous revenge on America. The U.S. political elite emerged from the war passionately concerned to cleanse itself from all taints of racism or xenophobia. Eventually, it enacted the epochal Immigration Act … of 1965. And this, quite accidentally, triggered a renewed mass immigration, so huge and so systematically different from anything that had gone before as to transform — and ultimately, perhaps, even to destroy — the one unquestioned victor of World War II: the American nation, as it had evolved by the middle of the twentieth century.

Today, the U.S. government is literally dissolving the American people and electing a new one …

This passage occasioned some spluttering. Recently, an academic called Tony Smith was particularly pompous ("Peter Brimelow's offensive assertion") in a Center for Immigration Studies paper on "Ethnicity, Immigration, And The American National Community." Then he went on to endorse my argument! … in the usual politic CIS way, of course.

But "Magic Nose" illustrates the Hitler's Revenge syndrome perfectly. Note that he doesn't dispute Joan Woodward's observation — that Chinese immigrants in San Francisco showed little patriotic response to the 9/11 terrorist attacks. He just thinks that any concern for national integrity is, in itself, evidence of Nazism.

Well, I have news for you, Snout. Not only are both of my children blue-eyed — call the political police! — but in the car they have invented a game in which they count Volkswagen Beetles!

Stick that up your nostril and snort it.

[We got some intelligent letters about Joan Woodward's piece, which we will publish shortly].
