The London Daily Telegraph, which for most of my adult life was a Fleet Street bastion of good reactionary values, has just published a piece asserting that:
There are very few human beings who can be compared to Jesus Christ. Nelson Mandela is one. This is because he was a spiritual leader as much as a statesman. His colossal moral strength enabled him to embark on new and unimaginable forms of action.
Great God in boots! Where can one go to escape from liberalism? We are … oh, you know.
I note with interest that “Comments are closed” on the article. I take that to be a sign that the Telegraph didn’t like the comments they were getting. I very much hope that is the case.
