A David Yeagley Classic

In Good Bye, Older Brother and My Time With David Yeagley — Comanche Warrior, American Patriot, Jared Taylor and Allan Wall, respectively, have given their in-depth reminiscences of VDARE.com’s recently-departed friend David Yeagley.

His 2001 article What’s Up With White Women?, originally posted at David Horowitz’s FrontPageMagazine site, made a vivid impression on me at the time. So the undoubted highlight of 2012’s American Renaissance conference, for me, was the chance to finally meet and exchange a few words with Dr. Yeagley. Upon mentioning that article to him, he immediately lit up and said that it had been among his most popular.

It’s a brief piece, only about 750 words, but that’s too long to reproduce in a blog entry. Thus, to entice readers, here’s how it begins:

"Look, Dr. Yeagley, I don’t see anything about my culture to be proud of. It’s all nothing. My race is just nothing."

The girl was white. She was tall and pretty, with amber hair and brown eyes. For convenience’s sake, let’s call her "Rachel."

I had been leading a class on social psychology, in which we discussed patriotism — what it means to be a people or a nation. The discussion had been quite lively. But when Rachel spoke, everyone fell silent.

"Look at your culture," she said to me. "Look at American Indian tradition. Now I think that’s really great. You have something to be proud of. My culture is nothing."

Following that are Dr. Yeagley’s dismayed ruminations over what he'd heard from Rachel. They're striking, so please do read the whole thing. Then you might honor his memory by distributing the article widely.
