A good "Not Reporting Race" post from 24Ahead.com. A standard mob attack by "teens" in Oregon was reported properly by police, and by other media outlets, but not at The Oregonian. See the details at 24Ahead.com, with a useful table comparing coverage. I'll just quote one thing from a commenter at the The Oregonian:
You'll note they've removed three of my posts drawing attention to the fact they are purposely not using police quotes identifying the suspects as African-American. That was the point I was making. All the other news outlets are reporting the story, with quotes. The Oregonian had to heavily edit the story to leave that out.
The police always give the race in a suspect’s description, the press almost always leaves it out.
