Abbott: $500M OK’d For Border, 240K Illegals Caught

Continuing to do the job President Joe Biden won’t do, Texas Governor Greg Abbott and his backers in the Texas legislature OK’d spending another almost $500 million on Operation Lone Star, the state’s border-control effort [Governor Abbott, Texas State Leadership Approve $495.3 Million In Additional Funding For Operation Lone Star, Border Security Operations, Gov.Texas.Gov, April 29, 2022]. That’s a good thing given that Texas has arrested almost 240,000 illegals.

All but $30 million of the $495.3 million will pay for the Texas National Guard’s deployment.

“Texas will not sit on the sidelines as President Biden continues turning a blind eye to the crisis at our southern border,” Abbott said in a prepared statement.

Backing the appropriation was Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick, Speaker Dade Phelan, Senate Finance Committee Chair Joan Huffman, and House Appropriations Committee Chair Dr. Greg Bonnen.

Abbott’s dumping illegals in front of the U.S. Capitol might have been a publicity stunt, but he and other governors have put Let’s Go Brandon on notice: If you can’t or won’t stop this invasion, we can…and will.
