Administration Has Allowed 40 Dangerous Jihadists to Return to America

Do you ever have the feeling that the current administration is not serious about protecting America from our many enemies, even with the easy stuff? One example is the dozens of US residents who have left for ISIS territory to fight for jihad. They can return from their murderous jihad activities abroad with no questions asked, apparently.

DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson appeared on Sunday’s Sixty Minutes broadcast to discuss national security with reporter Leslie Stahl:

STAHL: As I understand it, of the 180 Americans who have gone overseas to fight in Iraq and Syria, 40 have come back. I assume you’re keeping close tabs on those 40?

JOHNSON: We have in fact kept close tabs on those who we believe have left and those who’ve come back. A number have been arrested or investigated and we have systems in place to track these individuals. But you can’t know everything.

In 2011, two Somali women residing in Minnesota were convicted of conspiring to support terrorists materially in their homeland via fundraising. In 2013, they were sentenced to 10 and 20 years in prison.

How is volunteering to pursue armed jihad in person less support of terror than sending money? Why aren’t jihadists who return to America charged with supporting terror and jailed? Or better, prevented from returning, so traveling to jihad would be a one-way trip, period.

Below, pursuing jihad is Muslim lands allows many opportunities for Muslim expression, like the mass murder of despised Coptic Christians in Libya.
