When you make up a list of individuals who have spread the most unhappiness throughout the world, the top ten might include Tamerlane, Hitler, Genghis Khan, Stalin, and, of course, campfire song composer Stephen Foster.
The statue of Stephen “Oh, Susanna” Foster was hauled away today in Pittsburgh.
Who will they come for in the future?
I’m guessing … Dr. Seuss’s statue at the UC San Diego Geisel Library for his drawing caricatures of myopic, bucktoothed Japanese leaders after the unpleasantness at Pearl Harbor.
Sure, he was a leftwing anti-fascist, but Dr. Seuss was a WHITE leftwing anti-fascist.
