Sweet — but contemptuously exploiting Birthright Citizenship loophole

"A curious global industry has emerged that caters to wealthy foreign women willing to spend tens of thousands of dollars to give birth in the United States and get instant U.S. citizenship for their babies.

The hefty price is worth it, according to these women, because it paves the way for easy access to American public schools, universities and jobs as the children get older and green cards for the whole family once the child turns 21…

“They are gaming the system…and people should be put in jail,” said Representative Phil Gingrey (R-Ga), one of several members of Congress trying to put an end to birth tourism."

Nice one, Congressman Gingrey! Now please get your NumbersUSA ranking back to your fine career status of A- from this session’s disappointing B.

This is very similar to the situation I discussed in Flourishing in Flushing: Birth Tourism, except that judging by the video these women are even wealthier.

"NBC News gained access to four birth tourism centers in the New York City borough of Queens. The owners, all women, said they know their industry is controversial, but they hope it will soon be recognized and supported by the U.S. government.


“Yes, our business is a sensitive topic, but we have a lot to offer the American culture and economy,” said Katie, a business owner who asked that her last name not be used.


“These women are the economic elite…and they are fueling the economy here. I take them on shopping trips…one woman bought 15 Coach bags”


…“I spoke to a lawyer before opening my business to make sure I would not get into trouble with U.S. authorities,” she said."

VDARE.com emphasis. The way the Obama Administration is headed, of course, “Katie” might be right about her “industry” getting recognition and support — so long as she sticks to non-white clients, that is.

But she is wrong about legality, as Federale demonstrated and I reported in ICE Dodges Duty In San Gabriel Birth Tourism Scandal. The mothers come in fraudulently.

Birth Tourism, of course, is only a small (particularly outrageous) aspect of the whole “Birthright Citizenship” scandal (although Dick Morris confused the two the other day). But it serves very well to illustrate the key weakness in the Treason Lobby case on the issue.

The other side claims that the Citizenship Clause of the 14th Amendment mandates that being born on American soil means a child is a citizen. In fact the clause says

"All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside." [emphasis added]

What did the qualifying phrase mean? It meant that the Radical Republicans pushing through the measure in 1868 for the purpose of attacking their Southern enemies via Black voters were completely unwilling to have the same logic threatening them in their own — often Western — districts by enfranchising Red Indians. (It seems particularly silly in the context to use “Native American”.) And in fact Indians could not automatically claim the vote until the Snyder Act was passed in 1924.

Obviously the jurisdiction to which these transient mothers and consequently their children give allegiance is not America. To argue otherwise it is necessary to pretend the phrase is meaningless.

Birthright Citizenship — is the jugular of the effort to destroy historic America. It must be severed.
