Baltimore just surpassed 300 homicides for the eighth consecutive year, with virtually every homicide and nonfatal shooting in Baltimore having a black suspect.
The city is 62% black and 27% white.
And the black mayor Baltimore just blamed a fast food restaurant for the violence. Yes, the black mayor has called out Popeyes…
Some blame Popeyes, others blame City Schools after 5 students shot Wednesday, by Amy Simpson, Fox Baltimore, January 5, 2023]:
BALTIMORE (WBFF) — City leaders and city residents were quick to point fingers over who bears responsibility after Wednesday’s mass shooting at Edmondson Village Shopping Center.
The violence left a 16-year-old dead and four other teenagers injured.
All five victims were students at Edmondson Westside High School who left school grounds and were at the shopping center across the street during their lunch period, according to Baltimore Police.
On Thursday, Baltimore City Schools said it is a requirement for students to remain on school grounds during the school day.
A spokesperson said, in a statement, while it’s the school administration’s responsibility to enforce these rules, the district relies on the surrounding community for “protection and support”:
Monday’s shooting in the Edmondson area was a tragic event that continues to impact our students, staff, families and administrators. The loss of any student is a horrible event and, unfortunately, far too many of our young people are victims of violence.
While it is the school administration’s responsibility to enforce all policies including attendance and early dismissal, City Schools relies on the surrounding community to help us provide the protection and support our children and families need. Furthermore, it is a system-wide requirement that students always stay on campus during school hours. Schools proactively communicate this to families and students, as Edmondson has done repeatedly throughout the year including just recently in December.
During a press conference at the crime scene Wednesday, Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott expressed frustration over the troubled Edmondson Village Shopping Center.
“This Popeyes has been cited before for selling to minors and students during the daytime,” said Scott. “This is something that shouldn’t happen because those young people wouldn’t be here if they knew they couldn’t buy something from this place.”
The Mayor’s Office did not respond to questions Thursday about that City ordinance or when this Popeyes was previously cited for noncompliance.
FOX45 News, however, found a Baltimore Police Ordinance, which dictates a daytime curfew for minors:
Prohibited conduct of minors — Daytime curfew. (a) In general. Except as otherwise provided in subsection (b) of this section, no minor under the age of 16 may remain in or about any public place or any establishment between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. on any day during which the minor is required to be in school….In a statement Thursday morning, Popeyes told FOX45 News:
We closely work with local officials and respect their wishes to not serve students during the school day. Although no one from our restaurant in the shopping center was involved, we closed for the day to allow our team members to go home given the tragic events in the parking lot outside.
NEW: After yesterday’s mass shooting that left one Edmondson Westside HS student dead and four injured — some were quick to point fingers at the Popeyes for allegedly selling food to students during the school day.

— Amy Simpson (@AmySimpsonTV) January 5, 2023While some blame the fast food restaurant for allegedly serving students during the school day, others in the community disagree.
“Those children come from the school over to the shopping center,” said one woman at Edmondson Village Shopping Center on Thursday. “They’re not even inside of Popeyes. They’re sitting on the wall of Popeyes. Popeyes can’t control that.”
This woman said she wants to see Baltimore City Schools do more to enforce rules requiring students to remain on campus.
“It should be somebody in the shopping center and it should be somebody on the corner that’s controlling what’s going on,” she said. “[City Schools] can do better and they can do more. So don’t blame the shopping center.”
Baltimore City Schools said Edmondson Westside High School students will have a half day on Friday with a focus on counselling and support services.
Why does Baltimore have one of the highest homicide rates in not just the USA, but the entire world? Because of individual black people collectively making the city unsafe for civilized people.
It’s not Popeyes, mayor. It’s blacks.
