I was reading Salon.com’s War Room, not for pure pleasure, but because I wanted to find out what kind of nuttiness Alex Pareene was up to. (See here for the answer.)
I came across a post condemning Victor Davis Hanson (not that there’s anything wrong with that) and clicked to see why they were condemning him.
It turns out that writer Mark Adomanis, who describes himself as a “recovering movement conservative”, was annoyed with Hanson for not giving Mayor Michael Nutter enough credit over his attitude towards flash mobs.
Nutter, you see, writes Adomanis:
“[R]ecently gave a shockingly strong-worded and blunt speech at a traditionally African-American Baptist church in which he said, among other things:
“If you want to act like an idiot, move. Move out of this city. We don’t want you here anymore.”
“You’ve damaged yourself, you’ve damaged another person, you’ve damaged your peers and, quite honestly, you’ve damaged your own race. You damaged your own race.
“If you want … anybody else to respect you and not be afraid when they see you walking down the street, then leave the innocent people who are walking down the street minding their own damn business. Leave them alone.”
“Parents, get your act together. You need to get hold of your kids before we have to.”
“A particular problem in the black community is we have too many men making too many babies that they don’t want to take care of,” he preached to applause. “We end up dealing with your children.
“They’re lawless. They act with ignorance. They don’t care about anybody else, and their behavior is outrageous. Well, we’re not going to tolerate that.”
Well, of course Nutter can make “shockingly strong-worded and blunt” speeches like that-he’s black. White mayors, if any, couldn’t even think of making such a speech.
And if that kind of speech is “shocking,” and in fact it was attacked by a black female columnist in the Philadelphia Enquirer, what does that say about black liberal culture?
P. S,. Adomanis is right–Hanson is incoherent.
