My article Less Perfect Unions, about teacher unions and the fundamental instability of the 1960s public sector collective bargaining revolution as revealed by Scott Walker’s war in Wisconsin, has now appeared in The American Conservative magazine — buy here. (I wrote a whole book on this wonkish topic, The Worm In The Apple, still in print.)
The word "immigration" nowhere appears in the article. But I do get to mention Stein’s Law — "If something cannot go on forever, it will stop” — which applies equally to the Teacher Trust and that other typical 1960s phenomenon, U.S. immigration policy.
