Calais Migrants Burn Charity Supplies

VDARE.com readers probably know about the "jungle" camps around the French city of Calais, a major ferry and Channel Tunnel departure point for the U.K.

The inhabitants of these camps hope to sneak onto a truck or a train going to the U.K. For one thing, many of them have relatives established there, thanks to Britain’s foolishly lax immigration and asylum policies across the past five decades.

For another, the U.K is the softest touch in Europe for "asylum seekers" (Eurospeak for illegal immigrants). Multiculturalism and xenophilia are core features of present-day British state ideology. Welfare is lavish. Enough of the traditional Anglo-Saxon liberties survive that no other European country is easier to live in without papers.

So there they are: several thousand Africans and West Asian illegals living in squalid tent camps. How do they survive? On charity, mostly … of which there seems to be a surfeit.

A charity has stopped providing aid to the Calais "jungle" because aid workers have concluded the majority of migrants in the camp do not need to be there.

The shocked deputy claimed he discovered unwanted clothing and food "being dumped and burnt" by migrants.

Mr Tokan said: "I thought they have valid reason, but most of them they haven’t any valid reason … they want to go [to the UK] to get money, a better economic situation."

He also said that 95 to 97 per cent of migrants in the camp were young, fit men — some of whom allegedly told him they were happy to stay in the camp.

Mr Tokan added the HRF will now turn its attention to helping Syrians trapped in neighbouring Lebanon and Jordan, claiming migrants at Calais no longer need the help.

He told [British TV authority] ITV: "They have enough food, they have enough clothes and we have seen clothes everywhere thrown.

"I think we need to find other places. These people come from certain countries, which are safe, everything is there, they can work, but I don’t know why they came here."
