The AdelZuck faction bought themselves another GOP Senate nomination last night

Dan Sullivan won the Alaska GOP Senate primary on Tuesday and will face Democratic Sen. Mark Begich this fall in a crucial race for control of the Senate.

Sullivan, the state’s former attorney general and director of natural resources, won 40 percent of the vote with 80 percent of precincts reporting, according to The Associated Press. Joe Miller, the upset winner of the 2010 primary, won 32 percent, and Lt. Gov. Mead Treadwell won 25 percent.

Alaska GOP Senate primary 2014: Dan Sullivan wins By Elizabeth Titus 8/20/14

As so often in this Primary cycle, the money disparity was staggering

Sullivan overwhelmed Treadwell and Miller in the money race, taking in $4 million through July 30 and spending $3 million. Treadwell raised $1.2 million and spent about $1 million. Miller raised just $328,000 and spent $566,000.

Less than 92,000 votes in aggregate were cast in the Primary. That works out to $82.66 per vote for Sullivan and $19.53 for Miller. To put it another way, Sullivan was given 12 times the money Miller was.

Sullivan’s funding sources were badly tainted:

Dan Sullivan has taken hundreds of thousands of dollars in campaign cash from numerous big-monied pro-amnesty donors, including Paul Singer’s Friends for an American Majority, John McCain’s America First PAC, and Lindsey Graham’s Fund for America’s Future. He is also backed with independent expenditures from Karl Rove’s American Crossroads and the US Chamber of Commerce. Both favor amnesty for illegals.

According to the Federation for American Immigration Reform, ten thousand illegal aliens reside in Alaska, costing the state more than $138 million per year in public services.

Joe Miller is the only candidate to fill out the NumbersUSA candidate questionnaire. He has also been named a “True Reformer” for his strong stand for the rule of law and against amnesty for illegals

Sullivan is clearly going to be another vote for Amnesty/Immigration surge like Lamar Alexander. His Democratic opponent, Mark Begich, has a NumbersUSA ranking of F, but Sullivan as a practical matter is likely to be no better. Alaska’s Republican Senator, Lisa Murkowski, is D-

This is a great pity because Alaskans have been badly damaged by excessive and illegal immigration taking essential cash-generating seasonal work, as Ryan Kennedy noted in The Salmon Symptom: Hillary And The Democratic Party Abandon American Workers. Begich has been vigorously conniving at this as I documented in Is Mark Zuckerberg Going Into Salmon Canning?

This is an occasion where we at VDARE.com grieve bitterly for our lack of resources. We were aware the race was going on but just could not find the time or personnel to cover it.

Congresscritter Yarmuth, unfortunately, may not be wrong.
