From the LA Times:Federal judge blocks key parts of Arizona immigration law The ruling halts implementation of parts of the law that require police to determine the immigration status of people they stop and suspect of being in the U.S. illegally.So the will of the people of the state of Arizona has been voided by a Clinton-appointed Judge on what I suspect are pretty bogus constitutional grounds. WASHINGTON — The U.S. Justice Department says a judge ruled correctly in blocking the most controversial parts of Arizona’s immigration law.
Department spokeswoman Hannah August [Send her mail] said Wednesday that the department understands the frustration of Arizona residents with the immigration system.
August added that a patchwork of state and local policies would seriously disrupt federal immigration enforcement.
