From the Huffington Post:

Columnist Fired For Tweeting Harry And Meghan Should’ve Name Baby ‘Georgina Floydina’

Julie Burchill, who wrote for the Sunday Telegraph, posted the racist tweet about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s newborn just after her birth was announced.

Julie Burchill, a columnist for the Sunday Telegraph, has been fired for a racist tweet she wrote just after Meghan Markle and Prince Harry announced the birth of their second child.

After the Duke and Duchess of Sussex revealed that they’d named their daughter Lilibet “Lili” Diana Mountbatten-Windsor on Sunday, Burchill tweeted out, “What a missed opportunity! They could’ve called it Georgina Floydina!”

Last year, Meghan spoke about George Floyd and other victims of police brutality in a graduation address shortly after the 46-year-old Black man’s death at the hands of a white police officer, Derek Chauvin, who was later found guilty of murder.

Princess Sparkle, or whatever her name was, also went out of her way to promote one of the most ridiculous hate hoaxes of 2020. As I wrote:

Putting Out the Fire With Lighter Fluid

After race car driver Bubba Wallace’s NooseCAR debacle last week, it would have taken somebody truly dumb and publicity-crazed to breathe life into this week’s even more absurd hate-crime allegation: biracial 18-year-old Althea Bernstein’s assertion that four “classic Wisconsin frat boys” squirted lighter fluid on her and set her ablaze by tossing a lighter into her car in downtown Madison, Wis., during an Antifa riot. …

But then, just as the Althea Bernstein story was being allowed to quietly fade away over the weekend, that special someone — Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, wife of Prince Harry — stepped forward to make a really futile and stupid gesture to keep this latest Hate Hoax from being allowed to be forgotten the way the cooler heads in the media had wished.

We are seeing a return to the old concept of lèse-majesté or punishing offenses against the dignity of the reigning ruler. For example, in Thailand you’d best not mention that the new king, in contrast to his dignified dad, looks like a degenerate. In the English-speaking world, you’d best not joke about Meghan Markle, not so much because she married into the British royal family, but because she’s (kind of) black. That’s just not done. Combine that with joking about the holiest human that ever lived, George Floyd, and you are canceled, even by a conservative newspaper.
