Raul Grijalva

We at Vdare.com have a soft spot for Congressman Raul Grijalva (Mexican- AZ 7th). He clarifies things. And he helped us win our latest award from the $PLC.

But he does have a solid F- career ranking on Immigration issues on NumbersUSA’s invaluable scoring system. As Peter Brimelow said earlier this year:

Rep. Raul Grijalva’s father, according to Wikipedia, “entered the United States in 1945 through the Bracero Program and labored on southern Arizona ranches”. That was supposed to be a temporary worker program — how come he’s here? And how come he’s trying to overthrow “the power structure that created this unjust, racist law” a.k.a. Arizona’s elected government’s attempt to enforce laws that the Federal government will not? Answer: Grijalva is not an immigrant but a Mexican colonizer and what he’s against is not the “power structure” — he’s against America.
So The latest Dem concern: Raul Grijalva By Jonathan Allen & Scott Wong Politico.com 10/9/10 is good news
Party operatives say there’s increasing concern that the Arizona Democrat’s reelection bid could turn into a "sleeper" race for Republicans..

… a recent poll, obtained by POLITICO, found that Grijalva and Republican challenger Ruth McClung, a real-life rocket scientist, were in a dead heat … One Democratic source familiar with the Congressional Hispanic Caucus said there are "whispers" about the Grijalva-McClung matchup "being a sleeper race." … at a recent CHC meeting … Rep. Xavier Becerra (D-Calif.) made a strong push for CHC to donate to Grijalva’s campaign.

Most telling of all, Grijalva has tried to wriggle out of responsibility for his call for boycotting Arizona following the passage of SB 170 according to

Campaign climate is toughest in years for Grijalva in CD7 Andrea Kelly Arizona Daily Star Sunday October 10 2010

This story also notes

More than 142,000 voters in the district are registered Democrats, with about 75,000 Republicans and nearly 104,000 independents …

At the last campaign reporting deadline, Grijalva had raised $545,000 and had about $77,000 left. McClung raised $72,000 and had about $16,000 left.

Grijalva is not just bad news from a patriotic point of view — he is active bad news. So Treason Lobby support will no doubt be forthcoming.

But what a nice thought!
