At first, I thought, The Washington Post was lying to readers in this story about vaccines and Somalis in Minnesota: " Anti-vaccine activists spark a state’s worst measles outbreak in decades."That teaser is following by this longer note:
The plummeting immunization rate in the Somali immigrant community in Minneapolis has led to a full-blown measles outbreak, one of the starkest consequences of an intensifying anti-vaccine movement that has gained traction in part by targeting specific communities.Uh-h, I thought, the Post is actually trying to blame “anti-vaccine activists” instead of illiteracy, superstition and refusal to obey the law among immigrants for a measles outbreak.
But alas, a close read shows that the anti-vaccine kooks really are tied into this epidemic among these unwelcome Africans. So the problem isn’t just Third World immigrants behaving like Third World immigrants; i.e., ignoring the law and resorting to voodoo.
An anti-vaccine nutcake and proven fraudster named Andrew Wakefield (himself an immigrant from Britain, where he has been “struck off” the medical register) has been selling his “settled science” to Somali Muslims who invaded a land once home to people with names like Andersen:
Wakefield visited Minneapolis at least three times in 2010 and 2011 to meet privately with Somali parents of autistic children, according to local anti-vaccine advocates. Wakefield’s prominence stems from a 1998 study he authored, which claimed to show a link between the vaccine and autism. The study was later identified as fraudulent and was retracted by the medical journal that published it, and his medical license was revoked. So we have fringe “science” colliding with immigration insanity.
Read the whole thing. Somalis are choosing measles over autism. Or so they believe. Of course, they don’t know any better.
Which is another reason we don’t want or need them here.
Send them all back to Somalia, and send Wakefield packing with them.
