Mark Sanford’s easy victory in the South Carolina special election last night has dumbfounded the entire political class, including (needless to say) Washington Republicans. Our friend Jim Antle writes:
House Speaker John Boehner doesn’t seem very excited to have Sanford back?
Some of Sanford’s South Carolina Republican colleagues were so slow to endorse him that they might as well have mailed their endorsements in by absentee ballot?
The national party pulled the plug on the special election?
In today’s political climate, these might as well be recommendations.

One obvious explanation for Sanford’s win: he came out strongly against the Obama-Rubio Amnesty Immigration Surge bill:
"I would not vote for the bill in its present form," he said in a debate Monday night. He added that there are "a whole host of other things we can do that would impact the degree to which illegals are wanting to come here."

It’s an obvious explanation — but I've not seen it anywhere in the MSM.
Funny thing.
If Sanford had lost, of course, we'd never hear the end of it.
