CNN’s Joe John’s interviews Ron Paul and asks him the following question:
"I assume he would be interested in you trying to get you to get out of the race and throwining your suppport behind him — how likely is that?"
(Paul Mulshine calls this "the most clueless question of the campaign.")
Ron Paul: Zero. Zero chance.
Mulshine explains why this is stupid
Everyone who’s been paying the slightest bit of attention realizes Ron Paul despises Newt Gingrich. The feud dates back to a 1996 Congressional primary in Texas in which Gingrich supported a Democrat who switched parties and ran against Paul for the GOP nomination. But even if you didn’t know about that, anyone who listened to the debates would have to realize their political philosophies are complete opposites. Paul is a small-government conservative and Gingrich is a big-spending, big-government "transformationalist" — whatever that means.
And then there’s the fact that Gingrich long ago stated that he would not support Ron as the nominee. Read this article in which Gingrich blasts the Texas congressman and states, “I think Ron Paul’s views are totally outside the mainstream of virtually every decent American.”
So, yes, it does seem like a dumb question.
Unfortunately, from an immigration restrictionists point of view, there’s not much to choose between Gingrich’s big business "Red Card" jobs-for-aliens plan, and Ron Paul’s combination of libertarianism and born-again anti-anti-immigration politics — see Ron Paul Says We're Scapegoating Immigrants — And That’s Not The Worst Part!
