A scientist in 1906 found a better way to cut cake

Francis Galton had outrageous and awful views on heredity, eugenics, and the like. His cake-cutting technique is hard to argue with, though.

Francis_Galton_1850s[1] Galton also invented the silent dog whistle, the

weather map, and the functional way for law enforcement to use fingerprints (i.e., he figured out for Scotland Yard how to file fingerprints so new ones lifted from crime scenes could matched with old ones in file cabinets — it wasn’t a small problem).

Like I’ve been saying for a long time, history has been rewritten to make Darwin a saint and his relative Galton a demon.

But it wasn’t really like that.
