GOP Florida Debate: An Immigrant/ Mercenary Army?

By Peter Brimelow

The immigration component of the January 23 GOP Presidential candidates' Florida debate was not all bad, given our appallingly low expectations, and we may post a more detailed commentary when the transcript is available (and if we can stomach it). But I was sorry to see Mitt Romney scuttling to agree when Newt Gingrich proclaimed that he'd accept a DREAM Act for illegal aliens who serve in the U.S. military (no doubt the first of many Newtonian concessions).

Memo to GOP Grandees: there are problems with an immigrant a.k.a. mercenary army.

And, although this may be a shock to you: out there in Americaland, people actually compete to join the military. Why should they lose out to illegals?
